Playoff loss ends The Rock's season

The Slippery Rock University women's volleyball season came to an end Thursday night with a loss to Indiana (Pa.) University in the first round of the NCAA regional.

IUP won the match 30-25, 30-26, 30-21, ending SRU's season at 24-10.

Senior Lindsay Weber led The Rock with 13 kills, five digs and two service aces. Jen Blasko added 11 kills with Anastasia Urbanik and Louise Schulz adding five kills each.

Sara Kirsch had 33 assists, 12 digs and a service ace. Grove City graduate Gwen Oberlin contributed nine digs.

The match was the last in a Rock uniform for seniors Weber, Layna Heilman-Houser and Butler graduate Megan Smith.

Stephanie Devore scored 18 points and Heather Spangler tallied 11 points and nine rebounds as the Butler County Community College women's basketball team defeated Franciscan (Ohio) University 67-45 Friday night.Shannon Onderko and Liz Burgard both scored 12 points in the win while Julie Wills contributed 11 for the Pioneers (2-0).
