William D. Smith
William D. “Bill” Smith, 73, of Butler passed away at 9:02 p.m. Wednesday at his home.
He was born Sept. 3, 1938, in Butler to the late Jesse Smith and Florence Baudersmith Smith.
Mr. Smith was a Sea-Bee in the U.S. Navy, serving in Grand Turks and Antarctica. He worked as a central office technician for Sprint (Peoples) Telephone Co.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and enjoyed woodworking, making furniture and fishing. He enjoyed traveling, and had been to every state except Alaska.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Eleanor Anderson Smith, with whom he celebrated their 50th anniversary on Feb. 23, 2012; two daughters, Barbara Amos and her husband, Brian, and Lynn Marzullo and her husband, Stephen, all of Butler; one son, Steven W. Smith and his wife, Kim, of Buford, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Eric Amos, Adam and Ryan Marzullo, and Meghan and Abbey Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Smith.
SMITH — Friends of William D. “Bill” Smith, who died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler, with the Rev. Joel A. Benson officiating.
