Shirley Eileen Bolte, 91, of Cabot, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, while residing at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

Born Dec. 26, 1931, in Sarver, she was the daughter of the late William L. Zier and Mabel (Freehling) Zier.

She was the beloved wife of George Bolte, whom she married in 1952.

Shirley worked as a secretary at both Freeport School District, and Knoch School District which she retired from in 1994.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known for her quilting, cooking, and her ever present smile. She loved to travel with her husband and attended any activities that involved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Cabot United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, George; and her four children, Cathleen Thornhill, Keith (Karen) Bolte, Kim (Jack) Macurdy and Christine (Christopher) Mills; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leland, Roland and David Zier.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Concordia at Cabot Personal Care and Good Samaritan Hospice who cared for her. Their care was kind and compassionate and we are forever grateful to all staff members.

BOLTE — Visitation and services will be private for Shirley Eileen Bolte, who died Monday, May 8, 2023.

Interment will be held in Butler County Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of FOX FUNERAL HOME in Saxonburg.

Memorial donations may be made to the food bank at Cabot United Methodist Church, Attn: Food Bank, 707 Winfield Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
