Glade Run plans hoedown
FRANKLIN PARK — Glade Run’s second annual Harvest Hoedown Benefit will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 10 at Blueberry Hill Park Activity Center.
Barbecue, bluegrass music by the Allegheny Drifters, auctions and raffles are planned.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for children younger than 12.

Butler girl is ‘Mini Star’
Tishy Hornsby, 11, of Butler was selected a New Castle Playhouse Mini Star for the 2014-15 season. She sang “Amazing Mayzie” from “Seussical the Musical” for her audition.
As a Mini Star, she will perform 10 times, including the group performance, the annual Stars of Tomorrow. She also will perform in a benefit show in October.
Author signs books at library
GROVE CITY — Former Grove City resident Phil Gasiewicz, writing as John P. Warren, will discuss his political thriller, “Turnover: Election Day 2012 — You’ll Never Think About Your Vote in the Same Way” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Grove City Library, 125 W. Main St.
Gasiewicz’s novel is a political thriller using real events and data from the 2012 election that raise questions about the integrity of electronic voting practices.

SV will host children’s play
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater presents Theatreworks USA’s “Skippyjon Jones” Oct. 19-26 at six area locations, including Seneca Valley Intermediate High School.
“Skippyjon Jones,” based on the book of same title by Judy Schachner, is a musical for younger audiences about following your dreams. The 60-minute show is recommended for those 4 and older.
The show at Seneca Valley will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 26.
