Marko

Dean Leland Marko, 54, of Washington Township, Volant, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 5, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with melanoma. Dean was born in Pittsburgh on March 23, 1969, the son of Jack Marko and Doris Ann Luntz Marko. He married Tracy Michelle Bailey on May 2, 2009.

Dean was an amazing man who brought his family joy and happiness. He enjoyed watching and participating in sports, particularly baseball and golf. He loved working outside, decorating his home for the holidays. But nothing made him more happy than, taking funny pictures and videos with his daughters, seeing them smile and laugh, attending all of their activities, and spending every moment he could with his family.

He graduated from North Allegheny High School and attended Penn State University and Slippery Rock University. Before his illness, he was employed at the George J Howe Company.

Survivors include his loving wife Tracy at home; daughters Maelyn M. Marko of Harrisville and Emily A. Marko of Volant; his mother, Doris Marko of Warrendale, Pa.; three brothers, David of Wexford; Dale (Maxine) of Athens, Ga., and Daniel of Scotia, N.Y., and many loving family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law, Becky Ridgeway.

The family would like to thank everyone who generously loved and supported Dean and his family during his battle. Special thank you to all his incredible caretakers and hospice for all their love and care.

MARKO — Friends and family of Dean Leland Marko, who died Friday, May 5, 2023, are invited to attend a visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Leesburg.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 1778 Perry Highway, Volant with the Rev. Jeff Hurst, pastor of Leesburg ECO Presbyterian Church presiding.

Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.
