EVANS CITY — Providence Plantation, a center for living history presentations about 18th century frontier life, hosts evening programs this spring along the theme, "The French and Indian War in Ohio Country (1754-1763)."

They include:

• Meet a French soldier who witnessed George Washington's defeat at Great Meadows, 4 to 7 p.m. April 10

• Meet a French soldier who witnessed Gen. Braddock's defeat and Washington's success, 5 to 8 p.m. May 1.

The center is at 300 Textor Hill Road.

Fall programs include:

• Meet a ranger and an ally who served with Indian allies to guide John Forbes' army, 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11

• Meet Indians defeated in the Indians' War: 1763, 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 2.

• Meet a Pennsylvania family who sought land after the Proclamation of 1763, 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 6.

• Christmas on the Frontier Plantation, 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4.

• An extra program on "Walk with George Washington: 1753, a presentation on dispelling local lies and myths about the path and the Murdering Town site," is planned for 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 11. This event is limited to the first 100 reservations, and the cost is $10.
