Christine Ruth Feagin

Christine Ruth Feagin, 29, of Seattle, Wash., a daughter, sister, wife and friend, passed away Sept. 27 at her parents' home in Anacortes, Wash.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1985, in Corydon, Ind., the daughter of Richard and Mary Penhorwood Feagin of Anacortes, Wash.

In July 2013, Christine married David Oquist.

A 2004 graduate of Knoch High School, she will be remembered as an oboist who played in numerous festivals, was first chair oboe at State Band, was selected to study oboe at Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts and played oboe with the Pittsburgh Youth Pops Orchestra.

In 2008, she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in piano at Seattle Pacific University (SPU). After graduation, she became the owner and instructor of The Piano Nook in Seattle. She also accompanied for SPU and various children's choirs.

Before illness prevented her, Christine was an active member of the Bethany Community Church, the Seattle Music Teachers Association and Gamelan Pacifica. She taught gamelan at SPU during winter and spring terms of 2013.

Christine enjoyed bicycling and hiking and had a great love for cats and children.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, David Oquist of Seattle; her brother, Tom of Anacortes, Wash.; her grandmother, Ruth Gordon of Youngwood; her father and mother-in-law, Joel Oquist and Cheryl Griffin of Milwaukee, Wis.; her sisters-in-law, Carla (Brendon) Dorn and Samantha Griffin; and her numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Feagin — A memorial service for Christine Ruth Feagin, who passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Bethany Community Church, Seattle, Wash.In lieu of flowers, her family would be grateful for donations honoring Christine's life and memory to benefit the Music Therapy Program at Seattle Pacific University.
