Rev. Hugh M. Gloninger

The Rev. Hugh M. Gloninger, 77, died Thursday at Marian Manor.

He was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Pittsburgh, to John R. and Catherine McMullen Gloninger.

The Rev. Gloninger was ordained on May 25, 1956, and served as secretary to Bishop Leonard from 1969 to 1971, during which time he served as the diocesan vocation director. He was pastor to St. Sylvester Church from 1971 to 1989, and was pastor of St. Paul Church in Butler from 1989 until his retirement in 2001.

The Rev. Gloninger also served as a diocesan tribunal judge, the dean of the South Hills Deanery and the dean of the Butler Deanery.

He is survived by two sisters, Anne G. McAuley and Mary "Mimi" G. Fleury, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lt. John L. Gloninger, James Ledlie Gloninger and David Gloninger.

<B>Gloninger — </B>Friends of Rev. Hugh M. Gloninger, who died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at <B>JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, </B>4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street, Pittsburgh. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday by Bishop Paul Bradley in St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh.
