Clifford McHenry

Clifford L. McHenry, 86, of Cabot, formerly of Freeport, passed away peacefully at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia.

Clifford was born in Vandergrift, March 31, 1926, the son of the late Helen (Lewis) and Marion W. McHenry, Sr. He was the widower of Mary Grace (Smith) McHenry, who passed in 2002.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Clifford worked as a chief crane inspector at Allegheny Ludlum Steel for 40 years, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport and also a member of the Freeport VFW. He enjoyed listening to music and traveling, and he was an avid woodworker who enjoyed making things for others. He played the accordion in a band that played big band music and he also played the keyboard at Concordia for various functions.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan (John) Stover of Ruckersville, Va.; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his brother, Ralph McHenry of Boston; and his three sisters, Jo Ann (Harry L.) Headlee of Washington Township, Shirley (Jack) Schwab of Apollo and Judy (Jeff) Geraci of Allegheny Township. He also is survived by his best friend, Barbara Saylor of Cabot.

Clifford is preceded in death by his son, Michael McHenry, who passed away in 2003; his brother Marion W. McHenry Jr.; and his four sisters, Gladys Ottenburgh, Marjorie Wilhelm, Delores O'Niell and Bernice Aikens.

<B>MCHENRY</B> — At the family's request there will be no public visitation for Clifford L. McHenry, who passed away Tuesday, April 17th 2012.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Fifth St., Freeport, with the Rev. James A. Higgins officiating. There will be another memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Concordia Haven III Chapel, 160 Marwood Road, Cabot.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church 323 Fifth St., Freeport, PA 16229.For information and to send a condolence, visit www.redmondfuneralhomeinc.com.
