Wallace leads Moniteau past NC
Dawson Wallace pitched a complete-game, two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks as Moniteau’s baseball team traveled to North Clarion and defeated the Wolves, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon.
Wallace, a junior, also hit a home run and drove in both of Moniteau’s runs.
The Warriors managed just six hits, two of them off the bat of Connor Ealy, who hit a double along with teammate Ian Ross.
Brock Matthews added a triple in the win.

Kiski Area 7, Knoch 2 — The Knights were held to just four hits by pitchers Jacob Smith and Lebryn Smith.
Jacob Smith pitched six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits to earn the win.
Brady Wozniak tripled and scored a run for the Knights (3-11, 2-5).
Zane Pacek took the loss after allowing five runs (three earned) on three hits in two innings.
Braden Kriley struck out five in four innings of relief.

Mars 4, Moon 3 — Third baseman Luke Goodworth sparked the Planets with three base hits, a run scored and another batted in.
Chase Winstead doubled and had two RBI for the Planets (8-6, 5-3).
Roman Brunsell earned the pitching victory after working a scoreless inning of relief with a pair of strikeouts.

Track and Field
Levi Prementine won four events, including a school record-tying time of 10.94 seconds in the 100-meter dash to lead the Rockets to a 120-29 win over visiting Sharon.
Slippery Rock (5-0), which won 17 of 18 events, also featured Anthony Robare, who won the 800 run and contributed to victories in the 4x800 and 4x400 relays.
Julia Coffaro did her part to help the Rockets win the girls meet, 84-64, winning the triple jump, and running on the winning 4x100 relay team. The Rocket girls improved to 3-1.

The final four events from Friday’s Butler Track and Field Invitational offered a good bit of drama.
In the girls 3,200-meter run, Mt. Lebanon’s Logan St. John-Kletter placed first with a time of 10:25.58, breaking the meet record by former Moon standout Mia Cochran (10:28.03), who won state titles in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 runs last year.
The boys 3,200 was won by Ringgold’s Ryan Pajak with a time of 8:58.89, 1.29 seconds from Butler grad CJ Singleton’s meet record set last year.
North Allegheny won the girls 4x400 relay with a winning time of 4:01.87.
Butler was sixth (4:17.26) and Mars seventh (4:17.87).
Mars (3:27.23) won the boys relay. Slippery Rock was runner-up with a finish of 3:27.52 and Butler came in fourth at 3:33.04.
Boys Volleyball
Butler moved its record to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in section action with a 3-1 win at North Hills.
Alex Moncello dished out 40 assists, Adam Kaufman had 24 digs and Max Gianneski 18 kills in the victory.
Butler prevailed by scores of 25-20, 25-15, 20-25 and 25-23. The Golden Tornado on Thursday host Shaler, the top-ranked team in the state.
Girls Lacrosse
Mars defeated Quaker Valley, 9-8. No other details were provided.
