Classic horror movie conference holds marathon

Monster Bash, the international classic monster movie conference and film festival, will haunt Butler on Saturday and Sunday.

Featured over the weekend will be a non-stop movie marathon from 10 a.m. Saturday through 5 p.m. Sunday.

Scheduled movies include: “Doctor X” from 1932, “The Brute Man” from 1946, “Mighty Joe Young” from 1949, “The Fly” from 1958, “Return of the Fly” from 1959, “The Tingler” with Vincent Price from 1959 and “Dracula” starring Bela Lugosi from 1931, among other films.

Guests this year include:

• Terry Moore, the female star of the 1949 film “Mighty Joe Young,” who also made an appearance in the 1998 remake

• David Hedison, star of “The Fly,” “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,” “The Lost World,” “The Cat Creature,” “Journey into the Unknown” and “Live and Let Die”

• Charles Herbert, one f the hardest working child actors of the 1950s and 1960s, scoring loads of roles like those in “The Fly,” “13 Ghosts,” “The Colossus of New York,” “House Boat” and “Please Don't Eat the Daisies”

• Brett Halsey, who played Philippe Delambre in “The Return of the Fly” along with Vincent Price and also co-starred with Price in 1963's horror thriller “Twice Told Tales”• “Chilly Billy” Cardille, who spent more than 50 years broadcasting in Pittsburgh and hosted Pittsburgh's “Chiller Theatre”• Daniel Griffith, documentary producer and researcher whose films are playing a key role in preserving classic movies, actor's legacies and pop culture.Guest appearances are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday with some breaks. The movie marathon runs continuously through Saturday night.Admission is $40 for a two-day ticket or $20 for a single day. Children younger than 12 are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. The event will be at the Butler Days Inn on Route 8.
