Marian L. Barkley
“This is the day the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Her servant’s heart stopped beating April 23, 2023. Marian L. Barkley fought the good fight, kept the faith and was surrounded by her family when the Lord called her home.
She was born in New Castle on Sept. 8, 1937, to Leroy Samuel and Jeanette Mae (Barkley) Garver.
She married the late Donald R. Barkley. For 49 years, they built a life she loved of family, faith and travel.
She was a caring and loving mother (mom “B”) to Marty (Bert) Barkley, Robie (Tama) Barkley, and Matthew (Micheline) Barkley, and daughter-in-law, Amy Barkley.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren as much as they loved her, Blair (Curt), Paige (Brandon), Seth (Caitlynn), Jericho (Morgan), Michaela (Cristian), Savanah (Cody), Nathan, Logan and Caitlyn.
Stories of “The best GG a kid could ever have” will be told by Wyatt and Bella to the newest addition, Oliver, expected to arrive in May. Her legacy will live on in the strong family tree she founded.
Marian is survived by her brother, Jerry (Marylou) Garver; and a sister, Carol (John) Gwin. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Marian kept the faith, knowing she would someday be reunited with the family members that were called home before her, a son, Jeffrey Barkley; a grandson, Trevor Barkley; and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Barkley.
She was a devoted member of Family Bible Church. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.
The family would like to thank Darla Hembree for the care and companionship she showed mom.
