Joan L. Hillwig, 94, of Cabot, formerly of Chicora, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

She was born May 19,1928, in Butler, the daughter of the late Nancy Summerville.

Joan was a homemaker. She was a member of the Butler First United Methodist Church, the Asbury Sunday school class and United Methodist Women, and she was an elementary Sunday school teacher. Joan was a former member of Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Fecich of Saxonburg; two sons, Walter (Karen) Hillwig Jr. of Butler, and Larry (Diane) Hillwig of Cranberry Township; five grandchildren, Darren (Kim) Fecich, Jay (Megan) Hillwig, Joel Hillwig, Jordan Hillwig, and Rachel (Mike) Ockree; and five great-grandchildren, Noah Fecich, Lukas Fecich, Evan Fecich, Madelyn Ockree, and Asher Hillwig.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Hillwig Sr., whom she married on May 10, 1947, and who passed away on Feb. 7, 1999, and also by one sister.

HILLWIG — Friends of Joan L. Hillwig, who died Friday, April 21, 2023, will be received from noon to 2 p.m.Tuesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will follow immediately at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Janz officiating.

Private burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
