Charles Martin

Charles F. Martin of Butler passed away Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born on Nov. 15, 1921, in Washington Township, Butler County, he was the son of the late S. George and Martha R. Black Martin.

Chuck graduated from Hooker High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the Signal Corps Ships Complement in World War II.

Chuck was a lithographer at Craftsmen Ziegler for 38 years and retired in 1987.

He was a member of the Parker City — Allegheny Valley Masonic Lodge 521 for more than 50 years, a Shriner and the American Legion.

Chuck was a longtime member of the Mt. Chestnut United Presbyterian Church.

Chuck is survived by his three children, Rebecca “Becky” Maust and her husband, Allan, Marianne “Mimi” Snyder and her husband, Doug, and William “Bill” Martin and his wife, Cindy; his grandchildren Courtney (Brandon) Collins, Whitney (Joe) Greene, Justin (Janie) Martin, Evan (Shannon) Martin, Logan Martin and his fiancee, Shelby Ward, and Jessica Watson and her fiance, Zach Slater; his two great-grandsons; his sister, Margaret Ellen (Bill) Cook; his brother, Robert J. Martin; his four sisters-in-law, Juanita Martin, Doris Martin, Elizabeth “Betty” Cross, and Grace Vogus; his four nieces, and his 10 nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Claribel H. Martin, who he married on June 23, 1949, and who passed away on Jan, 21, 2011; his three brothers, Ken Martin, Dale Martin and Les Martin; his two sisters, Bea Monjar and Gladys O'Donnell, and his sister-in-law, Ferne Martin.

Martin— A memorial service for Charles F. Martin, who passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Mt. Chestnut United Presbyterian Church, 727 Old Route 422 W., Butler.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, or to the Mt.
