Donald Nowakowski

Nowakowski

The sun set for Donald Lee Nowakowski, 82, of Butler on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

He was born in Butler on July 29, 1940, the son of the late Adam and Mary (Bowser) Nowakowski.

After Don graduated from Butler High School, he started his life’s career as a union cement mason. He retired in 2000 after more than 40 years.

Don had many interests: He enjoyed farming with his son, International tractors, rescuing and caring for animals, as he had numerous pets throughout the years, especially his beloved “Snacking Buddies” Keisel “King Fish” and Princess Lucy. He also loved Steelers football and following NASCAR. He took pride in being one of the original members of the Saxonburg Saints. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke everyone listened. Above all else, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was loved and will be forever missed.

He was the beloved husband for more than 62 years of Mary (Pensy) Nowakowski whom he married Aug. 27, 1960; father of Mary “Molly” (Keith) Wilbert; and brother of Bob (Linda) Nowakowski, and Judy Thompson. He is also survived by his grandchildren Emily Nowakowski and Dustin (Chelsea) Bowser; great grandchildren Nataley, Ava, Ryder and Vivienne; and his daughter-in-law, Beth Nowakowski; and a large and loving family to cherish his memory.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Don Nowakowski; and an infant brother, David.
