Rev. Jerry W. Pyle

Rev. Jerry W. Pyle, 73, of Karns City, a well-known retired pastor, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Jerry was born April 29, 1942, in Cowansville. He was the son of the late Max H. and Nellie Mae Toy Pyle.

He was a 1961 graduate of Karns City High School and a 1966 graduate Toccoa Falls Bible College in Toccoa Falls, Ga.

Rev. Jerry served as a Christian and Missionary Alliance pastor for nearly a half century. He and his wife served churches in Eldred, Linesville, Aliquippa and Arbuckle. For the past several years, Pastor Jerry had served as the associate pastor, along with Rev. Mark Wallace, at the Chicora Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He retired Sept. 1, 2015.

Jerry enjoyed collecting model cars, playing board games, especially Scrabble, working on puzzles and baking buns. He most especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Rev. Pyle is survived by his wife, Sandra A. Byers Pyle, who he married at the Chicora CMA Church on June 24, 1966.

Also surviving are two daughters, Christine M. Burlingame and her husband, Doug, of Lake City, Pa., and Marie A. Shearer and her husband, Bill, of Mentor, Ohio; four grandchildren, Amanda and Curtis Burlingame and Ava and Emma Shearer; two brothers, Floyd Pyle and his wife, Bertha, of Kittanning and Jack Pyle of Chicora; three sisters, Catherine Elliott and her husband, Clarence “Butch,” of Homer City, Nancy Bowser and her husband, Reed, of Kittanning and Delores Boltz and her husband, Foster, of East Brady; and a number of nieces, nephews, one brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by six brothers, Eugene, Arthur, Lester, Max Jr., George and Lloyd; his sister, Phyllis Waterson; and his sister-in-law, Judy Pyle.

PYLE — Friends of Rev. Jerry W. Pyle, who died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Road, Chicora.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Chicora Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 310 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora, with the Rev. Paul G. Cope, the assistant district superintendent of the Western Pennsylvania District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, officiating.
