William H. Bump Jr.
William H. Bump Jr., 83, of New Kensington died Saturday in Health South, Monroe-ville.
Mr. Bump was born in Clymer on Feb. 27, 1924, to William Henry and Madeline Jennings Bump.
He lived all of his life in the local area.
He was a dispatcher for Conrail Railroad and worked mainly Kiski Junction and Greentree.
He was a World War II Army veteran and was a corporal with the 45th Infantry Division. He received the World War II Campaign Medal with four bronze stars and World War II Victory Medal.
He enjoyed carpentry and crossword puzzles.
He is survived by two sons, William H. (Kathleen) Bump III of Huntsville, Ala., and Jeffrey (Shelley) Bump of Templeton; two daughters, Madeline (Russell) Hirtz and Barbara (Robert) Solomon, both of New Kensington; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Hirtz, Michelle Kiley, Brandi Montgomery, Kailey Marie Bowser, William H. Bump IV, and BrittanyNicole Bump; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Dennis Bump, both of Arizona; and four sisters, Audrey (Pat) Silverio of Chicora, Vivian Murphy of Atlanta, Ga., Donna (Frank) Tascarella of Petrolia, and Caroline Conklin of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lyda J. McNutt Bump; a stepmother, Helen Parker Bump; a grandson, Brandon Hirtz, and four brothers, Jack, Gerald, Wendell, and Richard Bump.
