PITTSBURGH — A Western Pennsylvania teen who prosecutors say tried to kill his ex-girlfriend with a hammer has been released from juvenile detention but must undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Kim Berkeley Clark on Monday ordered 19-year-old Robertino DeAngelis released to house arrest following 18 months in juvenile detention.

DeAngelis, of Mt. Lebanon, was found delinquent in 2009 of attempted murder in the Halloween 2007 attack on then-16-year-old Sarah DeIuliis.

PITTSBURGH — One man arrested in the shooting of a police officer responding to an armed home invasion robbery last week has been freed from jail, while a second man already in custody has been charged with attempted homicide and other crimes related to the break-in, authorities said Monday.Myles Hutchinson, 21, of McKeesport was freed from jail Saturday. On Monday, Allegheny County police announced the charges against him were being dropped in the April 4 home invasion and shooting of Clairton police Officer James Kuzak, who was critically wounded responding to the call.
