Mollie M. Banas, 89, of Zelienople, formerly of Murrysville, died Saturday at Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople.

Born Nov. 22, 1921, in East Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late James and Louise (Margherita) Pugliese.

Mrs. Banas was a former member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Murrysville.

She was the business manager of Churchill Valley Country Club for 35 years and loved every day working at the club.

She was an avid golfer, bridge player, reader and Steelers fan. In her earlier years, Mrs. Banas also enjoyed needlepoint.

Mrs. Banas was a very giving and caring person.

After her retirement, while living in her apartment in Murrysville, she became a renowned cook and would prepare an abundance of meals, giving them to all the residents she knew. She enjoyed her visits from her grandchildren when they would travel from the southern states to spend time with her. Mrs. Banas also loved going to the grocery store every day to buy fresh items to cook up her special dishes for her neighbors in the apartment complex.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Virginia “Ginny” Hill and her husband, Richard, of Seven Fields; a brother, Peter Pugliese of Greensburg; a sister, Josephine Costanzo of Naples, Fla.; two granddaughters, Jennifer Jones and Wendy Thompson; and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Grace Jones. She also is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Banas, who died in 1998; and two sisters, Mamie Polic and Angeline Costanzo.

<B>BANAS </B>— A memorial service for Mollie M. Banas, who died Saturday, April 2, 2011, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community, 401 S.
