Eleanor Claudette Boyer Malick
Eleanor Claudette Boyer Malick, 71, of Connoquenessing passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday at UPMC Passavant Hospital.
Born Jan. 10, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Claude P. and Eleanor Bloom Boyer and had grown up in Evans City.
Claudette was a life member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Evans City.
Upon graduation from Evans City High School in 1964, she went on to get a degree in accounting and met her future husband and love of her life, William D. Malick, through a mutual friend. They were married Sept. 30, 1966, and would have celebrated their 52nd anniversary.
Known to many as Claudette or “Bug,” she traveled with her husband while he served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years. She continued to work, mainly preparing taxes throughout her adult life. When her husband retired from the Navy, they returned to Connoquenessing.
Claudette enjoyed genealogy, baking, cross-stitch, reading science fiction and staying in contact with her friends. Although she did not have the passion for trains that her husband had, she enjoyed traveling with Bill to many train events and making new friends. But most of all, she cherished being a grandmother to her three grandsons.
She is survived by her husband, William D. Malick; her two children, Robert W. and his wife, Karen Malick, of Erie and Eleanor M. Camus and her husband, John, of Evans City.
Also surviving are two grandsons, Anthony Camus and Nathan Malick; and the many children and grandchildren she “adopted” over the years.
Claudette was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Connor Malick.
