Richard T. Cupps
Richard T. Cupps, 93, of Butler passed away on Wednesday at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
He was born March 24, 1923, in Butler to the late Frank T. Cupps and Stella (Orowetz) Cupps.
Mr. Cupps worked in the Production Planning Department at Butler Armco for 41 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a life member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Mr. Cupps was a veteran of World War II, 20th U.S. Army Air Force in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He was a 2nd lieutenant radar bombardier-navigator on a B-29 bomber.
Mr. Cupps was a member of the VFW Post 279 of Butler, the American Legion Post 788 of Lyndora and the Butler Elks 170.
He is survived by one son, Gerald R. Cupps and his wife, Susan, of Butler; two daughters, Sharon Hamilton and her husband, Tom, of McKees Rock and Pamela Anderson and her husband, Herbert, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; four grandchildren; seven great-children; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Arner, Dorothy Baldauf and Sally Briggs.
CUPPS — Friends of Richard T. Cupps, who died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Church officiating.Officers and members of the American Legion Post 117 of Butler and the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora will conduct military honors at the cemetery following the service.Private burial will take place at the Butler County Memorial Park.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
