Mary Jane Prelosky
Mary Jane “Jeri” Prelosky, 93, of Monroeville, Pa., passed peacefully Sunday at home with her family by her side.
She was born July 13, 1924, in Crafton, to the late Ada Speaker Ledger and John Ledger.
She was the wife of the late Daniel Prelosky; mother of David and Jayne Scherf Prelosky, Nancy and Michael Loia, Steven and the late Jill Gibbs Prelosky, Phil and Patty Welsh Prelosky.; the grandmother of Nick, Allison and Rachael Chiappini, Kurt and Kimberly Prelosky and the late Michael Loia III; and the great-grandmother of Luca Chiappini.
A graduate of Pitcairn High School, she was the 1942 senior class president. As a child, she was an active member of the Girl Scouts, and as a young adult she was a counselor at Jumonville. For more than 60 years, she was a member of Monroeville United Methodist Church, singing in the choir for more than 50 years and a member of the United Methodist Women's circles. She loved doing daily crossword puzzles, in ink. She enjoyed her Tuesday night card games with the ladies of East Boroughs and was also known to regularly beat all of her children and grandchildren in Scrabble. She also read the complete works of Shakespeare, twice.
