Edward R. Konieczny

Edward R. Konieczny, 95, of Butler passed away Friday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born Jan. 23, 1922, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Stanley and Theresa (Zielinski) Konieczny.

He was the devoted husband of the late Rose Ann (Dorsey) Konieczny, whom he married Feb. 28, 1946. Rose Ann passed away Feb. 16, 2012.

Ed worked as the maintenance supervisor for Butler Memorial Hospital and retired in 1987 with 18 years of service. He had previously worked for American Hardware, Servistar, for 20 years.

Ed was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Moose Lodge of Butler and the VFW Post 249.

An avid golfer, Ed was one of the original members of the Butler Memorial Hospital Golf League. He also enjoyed reading and loved his Steelers.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in the Philippines during World War II from 1942 until 1945.

Surviving are his four children, Kathy R. (Len) Bloom of Saxonburg, Mark (Marilyn) Konieczny of Rochester, N.Y., Matthew (Patricia) Konieczny and Michael (Denise) Konieczny, both of Butler.

Ed is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Teresa Dorsey of Pittsburgh; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane; and a sister, Agnes Longobardi.

KONIECZNY — Friends of Edward R. Konieczny, who died Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler,

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler. The Rev. William Wuenschel, his pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
