CONNOQUENESSING TWP — The Rodfathers of Butler will hold the annual Cruise-A-Palooza on Saturday at the Butler Farm Show Grounds, Route 68.

Gates will open at noon and the show will continue through dusk. Admission is free.

From 1,000 to 1,500 cruise cars and antique vintage cars are expected at the 22nd annual event, according to Dan Cunningham, publicity director and website manager for the Rodfathers group.

“And the weather looks good,” Cunningham said.

Entertainment will feature the Mansfield Five Band playing from 4 to 7 p.m. Other music is planned as well.

The Pittsburgh Bomb Squad will be on hand for the second year, giving demonstrations and lectures about home safety and what to do in the event of an emergency alert.

A K-9 group will demonstrate how dogs sniff out things in a car.

And a car extraction demonstration by EMTs will show the use of the Jaws of Life.

In addition to demonstrations by five area fire departments, “a trailer will show families ... how to get out of a burning building. They have smoke they put off and everything,” Cunningham said.

“We’ve always wanted to do things like this and now we have more space so we can,” he said. “It’s a lot about cars but these other things make it really a family event.”

Food, vendors and new this year crafters also are planned. And the cruise is a collection site for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots.

The rain date is noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Proceeds, such as those from T-shirt sales and raffles, are donated by the Rodfathers at the end of the year to various charities.
