The Butler Outdoor Club seeks nominations for the BOC Outstanding Outdoor Contribution Award for 2009. The award honors individuals who make significant contributions to outdoor conservation, education or activities.The winner will be announced at the club's annual dinner Nov. 14.To submit a nomination, call Jean Adams at 724-453-1685.

SAXONBURG — The Saxonburg Library, 240 W. Main St., changed its hours.The library will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.For information, call the library at 724-352-4810.

An educational support group for cancer survivors, family members and friends is held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the Dimmick Educational Center at Butler Memorial Hospital, 911 E. Brady St.The group will continue to meet through Nov. 10. To register or for information, call 724-284-4332.

JEFFERSON TWP — The Swamp Romp outreach celebration will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Summit Church Christian community outreach building, 650 Saxonburg Road.The event includes carnival games, candy, shows and more for children of all ages.For information, call Summit Church at 724-287-2378.

LYNDORA — A food festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Ukranian Hall, Arbor Street.Ethnic foods like halupki, haluski and perogies will be available. There also will be a flea market.

SUMMIT TWP — Faith Lutheran Church, 241 Freeport Road, will hold an apple festival from 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 24.The festival includes a pork roast and haluski dinner, applesauce and apple butter, cider and apple tasting.
