Mark Stanley, 50, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Mark was born Aug. 22, 1972, to Maria Stanley of Pittsburgh.

Mark was an avid ice hockey fan and played on many teams and leagues throughout the years. His biggest passion in life was his family, especially his son, Liam. Mark had a big voice and an even bigger heart. He will be forever missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Mark was employed by Ervin Industries in East Butler.

He was a member of the St. Clare Parish in Carbon Center.

Surviving are his wife, Julie (Giallombardo) Stanley, whom he married on May 21, 2011, and his 10-year-old son, Liam Joseph. Liam was who Mark held dearest in his heart, as he always told him “You are my best friend and always will be.” Also at home is Jeffrey, their beloved Westie.

Also surviving is Mark’s mother, Maria Stanley of Pittsburgh; his brothers, Larry Stanley of Kentucky and David Stanley of Pittsburgh; his sister-in-law, Melissa Stanley; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Bonnie Giallombardo of Butler; his sister-in-law, Sara (Giallombardo) Smith and her husband, Mark; his nephews, Logan Smith and William Stanley Jr.; his goddaughter, Courtney Stanley; and his niece, Savannah Stanley.

Mark also leaves behind a large extended family including his godmother, Norma Leise, and her family; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents.

STANLEY — Friends of Mark Stanley, who died Sunday, April 2, 2023, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, Carbon Center. The Rev. Matt McClain, pastor, will officiate.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Oakland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark’s name to St. Wendelin School, 211 Saint Wendelin Road, Butler PA 16002.
