Larry Hilliard

Larry Wayne Hilliard, 72, of Ellwood City, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022.

Born in Butler on May 22, 1950, he was the son of the late Mary Costa Hilliard and Donald DeWayne Hilliard.

After graduating from Moniteau High School in 1969, Larry attended barber school. Later, he started to work in the maintenance department of Slippery Rock University. He was employed at the university for a number of years before retiring from there.

An avid car enthusiast, Larry would always attend the numerous car shows held yearly in Western Pennsylvania. He was also a lifelong basketball fan and a strong supporter of local school teams. In the community, he served as a member of the Masonic Lodge in Grove City.

Larry had a soft spot in his heart for his favorite four-legged feline, his long-haired cat, Meechee. He also had a special place in his heart for the Lord, and regularly worshipped at Park Gate Baptist Church in Ellwood City, where he was a member of its Wednesday Bible study group. Attending concerts featuring well-known area gospel singer Dan Schalled gave him special joy.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.

Survivors include a nephew; a maternal uncle; a paternal aunt; and numerous cousins on both sides.
