SV center sets students up for success
In Thursday’s Butler Eagle, we reported on the grand opening and ribbon cutting at Seneca Valley Academy of Choice Drop-in Center on Executive Drive.
The newly designed drop-in center allows students in the district’s cyber program, the Academy of Choice, to stop in for one-on-one time with teachers or attend a class, special activity, physical education program or just hang out.
A cyber-interactive classroom, gamer zone, demonstration kitchen with hydroponics capabilities, a social studies den, a book nook, a STEM lab with a 3D printer and poster printer, a learning commons, and a science lab with microscopes and other equipment encourage students to learn in an individual, group or hands-on way.
Some students aren’t suited to a traditional public school setting, and the center is the perfect remedy to the question of socialization. It allows cyber-schooling parents the capability of heightening learning capacity without sacrificing their children’s time with peers their own age.
“It’s the natural evolution of a successful cyber program,” said Tracy Vitale, Seneca Valley school district superintendent.
It’s uplifting to see every student, no matter how they learn, getting the attention and time they deserve as they move through their education. We’ve stressed before how important this foundation is in their lives, and this only serves to strengthen every student’s performance.
We commend everyone involved with the Drop-in Center, and can’t wait to see the progress that comes from it.
