Stephen Chapman has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.He is the son of Teri Pollock of Slippery Rock and the grandson of Angie Stalnaker of Stoneboro.Chapman is a 2004 graduate of Grove City High School.——

Air Force Airman 1st Class <B>Derrek Cherry </B>has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.He is the son of Kim and Jeanne Hockenberry Cherry of Prospect and the grandson of Clarence Hockenberry of East Butler and Gertrude Cherry of Butler.The airman graduated from a home-school program in 2004 and attended Butler County Community College.——

Navy Seaman Recruit <B>James Stotler</B>, son of Lynn Desimone of Harmony and Ronald Stotler of Pittsburgh, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.Stotler is a 1999 graduate of Penn Hills High School.——

Navy Seaman Recruit <B>Braden McQueen</B>, son of Tammy and Brent McQueen of Freeport, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.McQueen is a 2007 graduate of Freeport High School.——

<B>Michael Callan</B>, a 1981 alumnus of Slippery Rock University, has been promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the Air Force.The Meadville native is a pilot and commands the Air Force Special Operations Forces, Hurlburt Field, Fla.His decorations include the Defense Superior Service, Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star.——

Army Spec. <B>Edward Wolff </B>recently graduated from basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.He is the son of Dara Zulick of Butler and received a bachelor's degree from Slippery Rock University in 2001.——

On Aug. 3, Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class <B>Aaron Miller </B>graduated from the 331st Flight Training Squadron, Flight 483, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.Miller is currently stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., where he is attending technical school to become an aeronautics welding technician.The 2007 alumnus of Franklin High School is the son of Donald and Autumn Miller of Butler.
