Water main break leaves 15 city residents dry

A water main break in the city this morning put about 15 residents without water.

Gary Lobaugh, a Pennsylvania American Water spokesman, said that the 8-inch cast iron water main on North Chestnut Street between West Brady and West North streets broke early today.

The main is 75 years old and Lobaugh chalked up the break to age.

“It reached the end of its useful life,” Lobaugh said.

He said that crews are working to have the main repaired and water service returned by mid to late afternoon.
