Air Force Chief Master Sgt.

James Kradel III recently retired from the Air Force after 24 years of faithful service.Kradel graduated from Butler High School in 1980; and in 1999, he received an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.Prior to retiring, he was superintendent of the 1st Special Operations Group at Hurlburt Field, Fort Walton Beach, Fla. He began his career as an aircraft armament systems specialist; and upon selection for a special assignment as an aerial gunner, he began his flying career. He held a variety of flying assignments at various locations, including Albuquerque, N.M., and RAF Mildenhall, Cambridge, England and completed a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.Some of his awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Air Medal, three Aerial Achievement Medals, six Air Force Commendation Medals, and two Air Force Achievement Medals.He is the son of James Kradel Jr. of Port Orange, Fla., and Beverly Kradel of Myrtle Beach, S.C.His wife, Joann, is the daughter of Joyce A. Campbell of Karns City and Joseph Campbell of Winter Haven, Fla.Kradel and his wife are the parents of two children.———Cpl.

Benjamin Nagy, a communications Marine with the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, recently returned with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit from an overseas tour.The 2005 graduate of Butler High School has been in the Marine Corps for two years.He is the son of Paul and Ruthann Nagy of Oakland Township and is the fiancé of Hillary Pritts of Slippery Rock.———Army National Guard Pvt.

Adam Belles has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.He is the grandson of Judy Belles of Zelienople.The private is a 2007 graduate of Butler High School.The Butler Eagle publishes announcements of honors received by area residents in the Armed Forces.
