Ronald W. Schwenke Sr., 78, of Mars died Friday evening in the comfort of his home with his family by his side.

Born in Pittsburgh on Nov. 18, 1934, he was the son of the late William C. and Viola “Doll” Murray Schwenke.

Ron was a truck driver for Zappia Trucking in Cranberry Township.

A member of the Furst Hollow Hunting Club, Ron was an accomplished hunter, outdoorsman and family man. He loved his horses and his trucks, and enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou McDade Schwenke, who he married on Nov. 19, 1952; his children, Ronald Schwenke Jr. (Debora) of Salem, Va., Keith Schwenke (Rita) of Evans City, Richard Schwenke (Peggy) of Volant, Rhonda Sproat of Renfrew, LuAnn Sunday-Rogers of Prospect, Beverly Leasher (Rick) of Evans City and Kathy Walker (Jeff) of Butler; one niece raised as a daughter, Judy Gardner of McKeesport; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Clinton; and his brothers, Clayton and William Schwenke.

SCHWENKE — There will be no visitation for Ronald W. Schwenke Sr., who died Friday, March 29, 2013.

A memorial service is being planned and will be published in a later edition of the paper.
