Residents’ power restored Tuesday from weekend winds
Tuesday, March 28, marked the fourth day in West Penn Power’s effort to restore power to homes affected by severe winds Saturday, March 25, and by late afternoon, around 90 customers still remained without electricity.
Robi Lombardo, a representative for West Penn power, said Butler County residents who lost power during the weekend windstorm were told to expect full restoration by late Tuesday.
On Saturday, nearly 9,000 West Penn Power customers were without power, according to the company. That number receded to 4,145 Sunday, with hundreds of outages reported in Butler, Penn, Jackson and Slippery Rock townships.
At that time, the most widespread outage was reported in Butler city, with 3,297 customers in the dark. As of Sunday morning, all but 112 customers had their power restored.
As of Tuesday, 152 Penn Power customers were without power. Connoquenessing Township had the most reported, with 82 customers. Forward Township is reporting 36 outages, and 15 customers are reporting in Adams Township.
On Tuesday, West Penn Power reported 406 county customers without power, with the most outages being 144 in Clay Township, 127 in Penn Township and 47 in Connoquenessing Township.
Central Electric Cooperative was reporting no power outages as of Tuesday afternoon.
Penn Power was anticipating power to be restored to all customers by 11 p.m. Tuesday.
