'Gothic Show' marks start of 2010 slate

The Art Center officially opens the 2010 schedule in the Underground Gallery with "The Gothic Show" opening Friday in celebration of the 201st anniversary of the birth of Edgar Allan Poe.

The event will feature gothic themed art, fashion and live performances.

Along with the featured work of local artists, opening night will also have live readings of Poe's work and live entertainment.

Performing will be two area bands, Sick Twisted Debauchery and Suffer Your Charm. Admission $5. Light refreshments will be served.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. The live readings will begin at 7 p.m., followed by the live performances of the featured bands. Those attending are invited to wear gothic fashion to add flair to this event.

The Underground Gallery events are co-chaired by Nicole Nevel and Gregg Steighner; more information may be obtained by sending e-mail to art24aws@yahoo.com or by calling The Art Center at 724-283-6922.

The Art Center at 344 S. Main St. is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon to 9 p.m. Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
