Raymond Knox
Raymond L. “Zeke” Knox, 90, of Callery, passed away Sunday morning, March 26, 2023, at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.
Born in Myoma, Adams Township, on Dec. 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Jesse and Georgia Hudson Knox.
He had served as an SP 3 in the United States Army during peacetime.
Ray retired after 38 years with Mars Bank, where he had been manager of the Richland office.
He was a member of Old Union Presbyterian Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, elder, choir member and a member of “Willing Workers.”
He was a member of the “Men From Mars” quartet, the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F. & A.M., the Scottish rite of Pittsburgh and the Syria Shriners; he was past president of NACO Caravan 19.
An avid golfer, Ray was a member of the Tri Boro Golf League. He also loved gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy L. Makosey Knox, whom he married on Aug. 16, 1957; a daughter, Lisa Rape (Kenneth) of Penn Township; two sons, Michael Knox of Evans City and Robert Knox (Sheri) of Prospect; his grandchildren, Carly Rape (Mark) and Joshua Rape (Nicole), Samantha Knox and Kayla Hockenberry (Nick); and his great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Brooklyn Rape and Hendrix Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lester A. Knox, Clark Knox and Clarence “Bub” Knox; and his sister, Geraldine Leisman.
KNOX — Friends of Raymond L. “Zeke” Knox, who died Sunday, March 26, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, with the Rev. Dr. Peter deVries officiating.
