Edward Notareschi
Edward Notareschi, 92, of Bessemer passed away Sunday night at the Golden Hill Nursing Home in New Castle.
Born on March 23, 1922, in San Angelo, Italy, he was a son of Adolph and Lucia Andreassi Notareschi.
He was preceded in death on July 20, 1995, by his wife of 52 years, Josephine Calabrese Notareschi, who he married on April 14, 1943.
Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II as a corporal.
He retired from Republic Steel in Youngstown, formerly LTV Steel, after 45 years of service.
Among his many interests, Ed enjoyed watching football, wood crafting, hunting and fishing. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family at birthday parties and other family gatherings.
He was a member of the Christ the King Parish.
He is survived by his two daughters, Marlene (Ed) Notareschi of West Pittsburgh and Linda (Keith) Patterson of Ellwood City; his son, Edward (Kathy) Notareschi of Little River, S.C.; his sister, Rose Palvelko of Texas; his six grandchildren, who affectionately referred to Ed as “Po Po,” Aaron Bartlone, Melissa Boston, Keith Patterson, Jeni Verdery, Jamie Notareschi and Rena Notareschi; and his 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his two grandsons, Nicholas Bartlone and Bradley Bartlone; his brother, Frank Notareschi; and his sister, Anna Grilli.
Notareschi— Visitation for Edward Notareschi, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, will be from 11 a.m. to the time of a blessing service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, with the Father James A. Downs officiating. Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.
