Military themed license plates to be offered through PennDOT
Recently passed legislation allows the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to offer three new Pennsylvanians’ license plates honoring specific military members and their families.
Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration announced Tuesday, March 21, that two of these new plates — the Air Medal license plate and the Afghanistan and Iraq Veterans license plate — recognize veterans’ special contributions during their service.
A third license plate design included in the legislation is the Blue Star Family license plate for family members of an active-duty, Reserve or National Guard service member.
All three plates are available for passenger cars or trucks with a registered gross weight of less than 14,000 pounds for a fee of $23.
“These plates are yet another opportunity to show our appreciation for the sacrifices of our military members and families,” said Mike Carroll, PennDOT acting secretary. “As always, we are proud to recognize our military community and their accomplishments.”
Forms required to apply for one of the plates is available at dmv.pa.gov/vehicleservices, then click on the “Military Personnel Veterans” box.
