Shaffer

David Roy Shaffer passed away peacefully at North Hills Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on March 17, 2023, after an extended battle with primary progressive multiple sclerosis.

He was the son of the late Paul Dean Shaffer and Mildred (Reutter) of Tipton, Pa.

Mr. Shaffer graduated in 1967 from Burrell High School and went on to graduate from Findlay College in 1971, with a major in chemistry, where he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.

He was previously employed by the Dravo Corporation as a metallurgist, and EMC as a purchasing manager. He ended his working career with PGT Trucking in Monaca.

David enjoyed farming and had grown a number of vegetables. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles and listening to classic rock ’n’ roll music. He was an outgoing individual and made friends easily. If you knew him for five minutes, he knew your life history!

A former resident of Rock Lake in Zelienople, he is survived by his wife, Donna; his son, Christian (Tracy) of Ambridge; a stepdaughter, Deborah Sammons (Joseph) of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; his sister, Helen (Holly) Cooney (John) of Hazel Green, Ala.; his brother, Dean (Sally) of Riverside, Ala.; two nieces, Rachel and Michelle; and a nephew, Michael.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Bruce of San Diego, Calif.

SHAFFER — Visitation for David Roy Shaffer, who died Friday, March 17, 2023, will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, where a memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home and will be conducted by Pastor Jim Heckman.

Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blair Memorial Park in Bellwood, Pa.
