Stephen Santroni

Santroni

Stephen James Santroni, 78, of Butler, passed away on March 18, 2023, at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and John Draper, where he had been receiving Concordia Hospice care services.

He was the son of the late Joseph Santroni and Dorothy (Horvatic) Orlowski. He was born in Butler on July 27, 1944. Stephen was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served aboard the USCGC Campbell. He was honored to have marched in a Coast Guard unit at the funeral procession of President John F. Kennedy.

Stephen worked for Aeronautical Radio, providing nonemergency communications with civilian aircraft in New York, California and Puerto Rico. He also worked as a police dispatcher in San Mateo, Calif. In his later years, he worked for security at Butler Memorial Hospital and also worked at Dewalt’s Health Foods in Butler. Stephen volunteered as a bingo caller at Tanglewood, Vagabonds and Cubs Hall in Butler, and he loved to tell corny jokes. He was a kind and caring soul and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his sister, Gloria (John) Draper of Butler; his brother, Joe of Conway, S.C.; a niece, Kerri (Paul) Akers; a great-niece, Eden Akers of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; and a nephew, Steve Santroni of Conway, S.C.

The family is very grateful for the wonderful care provided to Stephen by Concordia facility’s skilled nursing unit, their visiting nurses and especially their hospice nurses, as well as pastoral care by Anthony.

SANTRONI - All services will be held privately for Stephen James Santroni, who died Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Arrangements are entrusted to RJ SLATER IV FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES in New Kensington.
