Cubs boxer makes Golden Gloves

Butler Cubs boxer Nathan Speron, fighting at 203 pounds, will compete in the Western Pa. Police Athletic League’s Golden Gloves bouts at 6 p.m. April 1 at the Pro Sports Complex in Monroeville.

Speron will be competing in the Elite Sub Novice Division. Call or text 412-576-9285 for ticket information.

Patton, Kamenski shine in opener

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Moniteau graduate and Westminster College senior Jacob Patton placed third in the 400-meter hurdles at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational outdoor track and field meet Saturday, hosted by Coastal Carolina University.

Patton’s time was 54.96 seconds. Karns City graduate and Westminster junior Anthony Kamenski placed fifth in the event, running a 56.30.

SV grads spark lacrosse victory

NEW WILMINGTON — Seneca Valley graduates Ryan Greer and Brady Page had big days in Westminster College’s 19-13 men’s lacrosse victory over Marymount on Saturday.

Greer, a senior attack, led the Titans with four goals and three assists. Page, a freshman attack, had three goals and an assist.

SRU baseball wins series at Critchfield

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University’s baseball team won the deciding game of a three-game weekend series against Wilmington at Critchfield Park, rolling to a 17-4 triumph Saturday.

The teams split a doubleheader on Friday.

Cam Panyko Morris led the 15-hit attack with a grand slam, single, two walks, five RBI and four runs. Koby Bubash had three hits, Jon Kozarian, Noah Ross and Robby Barrientos two each.

Luke Trueman struck out nine over seven innings to get the win for The Rock (9-4) which opens PSAC West play Friday with a home doubleheader against Mercyhurst.
