Reception upcoming for show

The Butler Art Center will have the reception for its annual Christmas Show and Sale from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Admission is free.

Arts and crafts have been submitted. The show is not juried, so anyone could enter, and several new artists are participating.

The show and sale will continue through Dec. 30.

On the night of the reception, there will be a silent auction of art that has been donated or left behind at The Art Center.

Also at the reception, singer/songwriter Cecilia Tomko and her 14-year-old daughter, Chesna, will perform. They are known for playing folk, Christian and country music.

Cecilia has lived and performed in clubs and churches around Charlottesville, Va., Atlanta and Savanna, Ga., Nashville, Tenn., and Pittsburgh.

She home schools her four children and leads worship in Mars. She recently started singing with Chesna.The Art Center is a Toys for Tots drop off site, and a box is available for donations.The center plans to host an open mic night from 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 17.The Art Center, 344 S. Main St., is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free. Call 724-283-6922 or visit ButlerArtCenter.org.
