Shirley Mae Scialabba, 84, of Butler, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Lowrie Place surrounded by her loving family.

Born April 29, 1938, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Zola Stewart Denny.

Shirley was the beloved wife of Nickolas A. Scialabba. They were married on Nov. 24, 1956.

She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, where she was a former May Queen.

Shirley had many careers, such as lunch monitor and bank teller, but her most cherished were being a wife, mother and grandmother.

She enjoyed baking, playing cards with family and in her card clubs, golfing in golf leagues, traveling, and gardening. She had been a member of the Buttercup Garden Club for many years. She especially loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived her husband, Nickolas; three children, Anthony Scialabba and his wife, Shirley, of Butler, Elizabeth Menninger of Butler, and Jeanine Sample and her husband, Michael, of Butler; one daughter-in-law, Angelica Scialabba of North Ridgeville, Ohio; one brother, Harry Denny and his wife, Linda, of Butler; one sister, Pamela Denny of Butler; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph N. Scialabba, who passed away Jan. 29, 2022; and one sister, Valerie Fend.

The family extends a special thank you to the VNA Hospice staff and the Lowrie Place staff for their compassionate, professional care.

SCIALABBA — There will be no public visitation for Shirley Mae Scialabba, who died Thursday, March 16, 2023.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Sisters of Divine Providence, 9000 Babcock Blvd., Allison Park, PA 15101.
