More music to be heard at this year's regatta
MUDDY CREEK TWP — Music, always a part of the Regatta at Lake Arthur, will take on an expanded role this weekend.
Holly Muchnok of East Wing Events in Gibsonia, who is organizing the annual event, said the amount of musical acts has been increased, and several diverse local groups will perform.
“We have a great lineup of musicians,” Muchnok said.
Todd Wehr, entertainment chair for the regatta, said that early, committed sponsorships as well as the event planner's guidance made the entertainment committee more confident in getting musical acts.
“We're excited about this year's line up,” Wehr said.
The headliners this year will be NOMAD, a contemporary country music band, and Good Brother Earl, an acoustic rock band. NOMAD will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday and end before the 9 p.m. fireworks.
“I think it will be a nice evening,” Wehr said.
Good Brother Earl will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday.
“They're very talented performers out of Pittsburgh,” Wehr said.
He said having a more certain idea of what funding would look like made it easier to book headlining musicians that are groups rather than solo performers. He also credited committee members Christina and Mike Handley, who he said had familiarity with acts in Pittsburgh, to helping get a greater variety of acts.
The NKO Trio from the Butler County Symphony Orchestra will perform at 5:30 p.m. Sunday before a release of butterflies at 6 p.m.
“That gives some classical flair to it,” Wehr said.

The performance will include a variety of drums and bass. Wehr said the group gives a beach vibe, which is appropriate for the event.“They do a really nice concert performance,” Wehr said.Additionally, School of Rock in Wexford will feature students performing so they get more experience in playing live. For a complete schedule of performances, visit www.lakearthurregatta.org/4/Event+Schedule.html.
