Police reports
The following items were collected from various police departments and district courts.
March 10 — A 46-year-old Harrisville woman reported that she learned while she was filing her taxes that someone was collecting unemployment benefits using her identity.
Feb. 20 — A 56-year-old Cabot man was scammed into buying 10 $200 gift cards from Dollar General. Police said he was contact by someone claiming to be his boss, who told him to buy the cards as rewards for his co-workers. Police said scams such as this continue to be a problem and are reminding people not to give out information over the phone or buy gift cards if contacted by an unknown person.
Feb. 24 — Lillian Newman, 26, of Ford City, Armstrong County, was cited for retail theft after loss-prevention officers at Boscov’s at Clearview Mall found her allegedly concealing a bottle of perfume.
Dec. 22 — A 39-year-old Pittsburgh man stole a check from the mailbox of M@C Discount in Connoquenessing Township and cashed it at a NexTier Bank in Wexford.
Feb. 22 — A 35-year-old Karns City man reported that an unknown person transferred $8,000 from his crypto.com account Feb. 16.
March 11 — Jeremy Booher, 43, of Chicora, was charged with criminal mischief after police said he damaged the parking lot at the Perry Township Municipal Building on Queenstown Road in Perry Township.
