Edward J. Connor

Edward J. Connor, 81, of Butler passed away Thursday at VNA Inpatient Hospice with his family by his side.

He was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Oakland Township, the son of the late John F. and Mary C. (Bruner) Connor Voltz.

Ed graduated from Butler High School, retired from Armco in the transportation department after 32 years of service where he served as a union representative for many years and on various committees and was a member of the American Legion and VFW 249. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War as sergeant first class.

He was a man of great strength and quiet leadership. He had strong faith and was very family oriented. Ed was loved and respected by all who knew him, especially his own family.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Donna (Mahoney) Connor of Butler; three daughters, Colleen Neyman of Butler, Kelly and her husband, Chris Teachey, of Richmond, Va., and Kathleen McCleary of Emlenton; five grandchildren, Philip (Shanell) Neyman of New Castle, Kristen (Ken) Strickland of Portsmouth, Va., Laura (Cole) Slingluff of Butler, Kayla (Adam) Larsen of Richmond, Va., and Matthew (Amber) Neyman of Butler, serving in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Texas; two great-granddaughters, Jordan Strickland and Harper Larsen (his pride and joy redhead); three brothers, Jim Connor of El Paso, Texas, John Connor of Sacramento, Calif., and Peter Connor of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Bill Voltz; one son, Richard J. Connor; one sister, Catherine Connor Perry; and one brother, Rodney Connor.

CONNOR — Friends of Edward J. Connor, who died Thursday, July 3, 2014, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Sunday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. Military honors will be by VFW 249 and American Legion 778. Interment will be in the North Side Cemetery.Contributions may be made to the VFW 249, 429 W. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001.
