Police warn public about scam calls
State police are warning the public to watch out for scam calls requesting gift cards, according to a Friday, March 10, news release.
Police said a 56-year-old man from Cabot was persuaded to purchase $2,000 worth of Visa gift cards by an individual claiming to be his boss. The individual told the man to purchase the cards as a way of showing his employees appreciation.
“If you receive such a call, do not give out any information over the phone,” police said.
Officers reiterated that such calls are scams.
