$440K SR lot will be sold by borough

A vacant lot in Slippery Rock, located near the Camelot Restaurant and Kwik Fill gas station, is in the process of being sold by the borough.

Shawn Pugh, Slippery Rock borough manager, said council members agreed at Tuesday's meeting that they would like to sell the lot to a business rather than a nonprofit organization.

“The council is having ongoing discussions about whether or not they can have any limitations on the sale,” Pugh said. “They would like to sell it to something that is not going to be a nonprofit to keep it on the tax roll.”

Pugh said the 14,810-square-foot lot has been appraised at a value of about $440,000.

Council also approved an ordinance that gives code officers authority to ticket residents violating certain property conditions.“That allows our code officer to ticket certain violators for high grass or not shoveling sidewalks,” Pugh said.
