David H. Shaffer
David H. Shaffer, 77, of Adrian, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 7, 1945, in Adrian, and was the son of the late Herbert Wilson and Bernice Minverva (Goldinger) Shaffer.
David worked all of his adult life doing many jobs including working on the farm, at Pullman Standard until it closed down, and in Texas in the oil fields. He came back home and was self-employed for many years, worked at EB Trucking in Adrian, worked in Northern Virginia, Shaffer’s Excavating and Shaffer Roll Off Service.
He was a member of Christians with a Vision in Adrian. David loved the Lord and also helped spread His word. He had handed out many Bibles.
He enjoyed flea markets, auction sales, farming, gardening, steam engine shows, tractor pulling, and trips to Erie. He loved spending time with his family.
David is survived by three sisters, Irene Tarr of Adrian, Betty Shaffer of Karns City, and Cora Mae Shaffer of Elderton; four brothers, Marian “Bud” Shaffer of Adrian, Dan Shaffer of Leechburg, Frank Shaffer of Adrian and Ron Shaffer of Tarentum; four sons, Bradley (Jen) Shaffer of Renfrew, Michael (Jen) Shaffer of Adrian, Steven (Tracey) Shaffer of Adrian, and Timothy (Tonya) Shaffer of Cabot; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Maggie.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Wilson Shaffer; an infant brother and sister; his wife of 53 years, Nancy E. (Smith) Shaffer; his daughter-in-law, Fawn Shaffer; and his grandsons, Stephen Wilson Shaffer Jr. and Chris Lee Shaffer.
SHAFFER — Friends of David H. Shaffer, who died Wednesday, March 8, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Cowansville.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Christians with a Vision Church in Adrian, with additional visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service with Pastor Tim Peate officiating.
Interment will be in the Crissman Cemetery.
