Myrtie Mae (Campbell) Smith
Myrtie Mae (Campbell) Smith, 91, formerly of Butler, went home to be with the Lord on Monday at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
She was born April 30, 1924, in East Palestine, Ohio, to the late Joseph Robert Campbell and Mary (McGonigle) Campbell.
Mrs. Smith was a 1941 graduate of East Palestine High School, then she went on to earn her registered nursing degree from the Beaver Valley General Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked as a registered nurse at Butler Memorial Hospital for 19 years until retiring in 1986.
Myrtie was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she had attended the Berean Sunday school class. She enjoyed reading, cross-stitch, playing the piano and music. Myrtie greatly enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her.
Myrtie is survived by three sons, Gary L. Smith and his wife, Phyllis, of Butler, Jay R. Smith and his wife, Nancy, of Butler and Drew F. Smith and his wife, Patti, of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two daughters, Kristine L. Lutton of Pottstown, Pa., and Claudia L. Shirk and her husband, the Rev. Donald Shirk, of Batavia, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy F. Smith, who she married Jan. 3, 1948, and who passed away May 29, 2009.
SMITH — Friends of Myrtie Mae (Campbell) Smith, who died Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Maitland and the Rev. Todd Wentworth, both pastors of the First Baptist Church, and the Rev. Donald Shirk of the Grace Baptist Church, N.Y., and son-in-law of the deceased, officiating. Burial will take place at the Greenlawn Burial Estates.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist Christian School, 221 W.
