Betty Jane Moore, 89, of Butler passed away Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 17, 1928, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Harvey Sumney and the late Anna Gonda Sumney.

Betty Jane was a 1947 graduate of Butler High School.

She was homemaker and a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was very active in her earlier years.

Betty Jane loved gardening and taking care of her flowers.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Gerstner of Butler; a son, Dale E. Moore and his wife, Marguerite, of Slippery Rock; a daughter-in-law, Tracee Moore of Butler; six grandchildren, Amanda Keltner and her husband, Jared, of Nashville, Tenn., Brenton Gerstner and his wife, Cara, of Mercer, Samuel Moore of Slippery Rock, Eric Campbell of Slippery Rock, Alexa Campbell of Slippery Rock, and Lillian Moore of Butler; five great-grandchildren, Makenzy, Parker, Brielle, Aylee and Raila; a brother, Harvey Sumney and his wife, Edith, of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey A. Moore Jr., whom she married Sept. 8, 1949, and who passed away Aug. 8, 2016; and a son, David A. Moore.

MOORE — Friends of Betty Jane Moore, who died Wednesday, March 14, 2018, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held immediately following Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.Private burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Ave #1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
